SUN PROTECTION

Living in the South of Spain, we receive more than our fair share of ultraviolet radiation (UV) light all year round. It is essential not just to protect our skin, but also our eyes.

UV Radiation appears to contribute to a variety of visual disorders. These include, cataracts, corneal damage and perhaps most importantly, age-related macular degeneration.

UV is not only present on sunny days but is actually present all the time during daylight hours.

We can help and advise you on which sun protection is best for you, your lifestyle and your budget!

“Our customers often wear their prescription sunglasses more than their clear glasses, so it is essential to choose the frame and lens combination that works best for you.”

Sun Protection Options

There is a huge range of options and we can take you through the process of deciding what will work best for you, step by step.

Below is a list of choices with a brief description of each, most of which can be made in Single Vision, Varifocal and Bifocals.

Please come and see us for a fuller description and to see our choice of sunglasses and the lenses available to protect your eyes

Sunglasses

We have a large selection of fashion sunglasses which are suitable for prescription lenses.

Bolle sports sunglasses are now also available in prescription, with many specialist sunglass lenses for cyclists, golfers, sailors and other outdoor activities.

Optical frames may also be used successfully.

Lenses may be fully tinted, or graduated. Or maybe a mirror finish? Anti-reflection coating and polarised offer increased comfort and of course, all offer full UV protection.

Photo-Sensitive Lenses

These photo-chromatic lenses darken when exposed to UV light. They block 100% of UV light.

The last few years has seen a large advance in the technology used to make these lenses and there are now several options available for you to choose from.

We can advise you whether Standard Photosensitive or Xtra-active (which darken more than conventional Photosensitive in the car) are best for your needs. A light mirror finish is also available on these lenses. Most of these lenses are available in Single Vision, Varifocals and Bifocals.
